Match Procedure
Stage Selection Process
1
Game 1: Both players ban 2 starter stages each (no repeats). Remaining stage from the starter list is played.
2
Games 2+: The losing player picks the next stage from any legal stage. The winner may not counterpick the stage they just won on (Dave's Stupid Rule).
3
Character Select: After stage is chosen, both players select their characters. The winner of the previous game must lock in their character first.
Character Rules
Character Restrictions
▶ All characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are legal.
▶ Mii Fighters are legal at any size and moveset combination. Both players must agree on Mii settings before the match; if no agreement is reached, default size (1.0) and neutral moveset apply.
▶ Players may switch characters between games. There is no character lock.
Crew Battles
Crew Battle Format
▶ Each school fields 5 players. Player order is submitted and locked before the match begins.
▶ Each player starts with 1 stock. The winner of each individual game carries their remaining stock percentage into the next matchup.
▶ Play continues sequentially — when a player loses their stock, the next player in their lineup enters.
▶ The school that eliminates all 5 opposing players wins the crew battle.
▶ Stage selection follows standard 1v1 rules between each new player pairing.
▶ If time runs out mid-game, the player with more remaining stock wins; if tied, the player with lower damage percentage wins.
Conduct
Player Conduct & Integrity
▶ All players must verify their .edu affiliation before the season begins.
▶ Match results must be submitted via the NCEO portal with a screenshot of the final results screen within 30 minutes of match completion.
▶ Intentional disconnects, stalling, or unsportsmanlike behavior may result in a forfeit or suspension at NCEO's discretion.
▶ If a genuine disconnect occurs in the first 30 seconds or before first stock is lost, the game is replayed. Otherwise the result stands.
▶ Disputes must be submitted through the portal within 24 hours of match completion.
